Generally Schnauzers have a pleasant, playful, spunky temperament that fits well into a lot of homes.

They love their walks and need a decent amount of exercise, but mostly they just want to participate fully in the family. They make alert watchdogs and may welcome strangers with enthusiasm or be a bit standoffish, even suspicious, if not well socialized.

Although Schnauzers often display obstinate resistance to walking on the leash, they respond well to obedience training. Many of them win top awards in advanced obedience.

Schnauzers are adaptable, makes an excellent traveling companion, and even if slightly spoiled, doesn't take as much advantage of it as many other terriers. They can be barky, though.

    I don’t even have to read this list because I’ve been blessed to have lived with schnauzer’s for many years. They are wonderful but very self assured and they know they’re much smarter than any human they live with!

    Yes we got her last year. We had a schnoodle before her for 14 years and were heartbroken when she died. We decided on a schnauzer this time because our daughter had one and we all loved her dearly.
    Our Corrie is quite a character. She has a lot of energy which keeps us hopping! She is a smart dog and can be stubborn as schnauzers are but we are very happy with her.

    Got it right! We’ve been owned by little schnauzers for over 50 yrs. Gypsy is the 3rd. one to live on the rd. with us as full time RVers, and the 2nd. I’ve gotten certified as a therapy dog. They are great!!!!!
