Siberian Huskies are no doubt beautiful dogs. They are typically outgoing, alert, gentle, friendly, playful, energetic and intelligent.
According to the AKC Standard, the Siberian Husky “does not display the possessive qualities of the guard dog, nor is he overly suspicious of strangers or aggressive with other dogs.”
Their exotic, wolf-like appearance makes Huskies appealing to many people, and their even temperament, love of other dogs and indifference to strangers makes them ideal family dogs.
Huskies have a zest for life that is unmatched by few breeds. Every time a Husky is outside, it's as if it's his first time and well into adulthood Huskies play with the vigor of a puppy.
They may seem like a good family dog for first time dog owners, but Huskies can often be “too much dog” for a novice.
They require extensive training and exercise in order maintain good behavior and only those with the time and energy to fully commit to a Husky should take on this breed.
But Husky owners agree, you get out of a Siberian Husky what you put into him, and these reliable dogs are worth the effort.
Check out the twelve realities new Husky owners must accept on the next page, and see if you can relate!

If you want to see a husky on patrol bring a new baby into the house (pack). In our case the husky immediately took up guard duty and was always postioned between any visitor and the baby. Never growled but you knew he was there. When I left, he stepped up as well.

My husky was so protective of me while pregnant. He bared his teeth at a stranger knocking on my door. I had never seen him like that. After she was born, he wouldn’t leave her side. Not for a minute, sometimes he would wake me, to feed her at night. She could abuse the heck out of him. He would just lick her face and talk or sing to her. Their bond is very strong. When someone is new at the house they have to be sniffed. If he doesn’t like you, he will growl very low, or give me the eye. He’s done that to people I don’t like either. He is just one dog. I have no others. I love him.

With my husky/malamute it’s either she likes you or not. No in between. She will growl and bark at strangers. And if anyone touches me she is quick to jump at them and let them know she’s there, while staring them down.

I have a wolf hybrid that sounds lovely urs might be. Wolves are generally skittish and shy around people and they see other animals atleast small ones and think that’s prey

yeah that’s what we’ve been thinking ours is she’s very pretty and does have blue eyes but most of the time her tail is even down and she slinks around like a wolf rather than her tail being curled and playing around…
