Young Great Dane Pup Mercilessly Surrendered To Kill Shelter, Cries Before He Sleeps

The Carson Animal Shelter is not a place that any animal wants to end up, as this high kill facility does not provide dogs and cats with a high chance of survival. These animals do not have very long to find a family and if they are not adopted within a few weeks, they are put to sleep for good.

Gonner was just one year old when he arrived at the shelter and the stakes were very high for the little pup. He was already learning about the cruelties of life, as his owner was unable to take care of him anymore and surrendered him to the shelter, not caring about the ramifications of this choice.

He was once a happy and jovial creature, but now he is sad all of the time and is typically seen moping inside of his cage. The poor puppy has very little hope and all he can do is cry and wait for someone to take pity on him, providing with a forever home that he can finally call his own.

Dogs like Gonner deserve the best in life and when we see animals like him struggling to find a home, it breaks our hearts. There is no reason why animal should be left to fend for themselves and the idea that this dog might soon pass away is something we can’t bear to consider.

Dog lovers, if you know someone who can provide this animal with a much needed home, please do not hesitate to pick up the phone and contact the Los Angeles County Animal Shelter in Carson to let them know about your willingness to help Gonner.

From the shelter:

“GONNER is big and beautiful and his family left him at the shelter because he wasn’t friendly enough. He has that collar over his face, and you can see it’s raw underneath and if you give him a cookie he is extremely gentle and sweet. He needs help fast, he’s in the back with no Kennel Card! He will need someone with experience and someone to give him training.”

In addition to spreading the word in person, be sure to share Gonner’s story with your friends and family on Facebook, so that he can find a home before it is too late.

The dog’s Pet Harbor listing can be found here. “My name is Gonner and I am described as a neutered male, blue merle Great Dane. The shelter thinks I am about 1 year and 1 month old. I have been at the shelter since Apr 10, 2017.” For more information about this animal, call Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566. Ask for information about animal ID number A5048803. A Facebook page to follow this boy’s plight can be found here. He must undergo a temperament test which has to be requested in person before the shelter will allow Gonner to be saved.
