Woman Caught Swinging Spaniel By Her Neck & Choking Her On Balcony

Earlier this month, a video made its rounds on social media showing a dog being abused on an apartment balcony in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

In the video, a woman grabs a 18-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel by the neck, chokes her and swings her around. She received minor injuries from the abuse, but was otherwise ok.

Her owner was arrested and charged with animal cruelty, and she was taken in by Gwinnett County Animal Welfare.

After watching the video online, Gwinnett County residents grew concerned about the pup and her wellbeing. The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office received hundreds of messages regarding the pup.

After seeing how much the community cared about this dog, Sheriff Conway offered Gwinnett County Animal Shelter to foster the dog, named Victoria, at the Gwinnett County Jail Dogs Unit.

Victoria is currently not up for adoption since the court case is still pending, but eventually she will be.

In the meantime, she is enjoying her time at the jail and is now in the Operation Second Chance Program, where inmates at the jail are paired with dogs to train while they wait to get adopted.

“Rather than being in animal control and just waiting for this legal case to work its way through the justice system, she could be here where she’s getting a lot of hands on attention, lots of love and affection, as well as really great obedience training,” Public Information Officer Deputy Shannon Volkodav told 11 Alive.
