Two German Shepherds Had Nothing Except Each Other – Now They Need 2nd Chance

No one knows loyalty better than dogs do. Once they fall in love with someone, no matter if that’s a human, one of their kind, or a member of another species, you know it’s forever. Besides being very friendly, dogs are also very emotional.

This is especially true for the breed of German Shepherds. These canines really are one-of-a-kind as they not only make great pets, but are excellent K9 officers, service dogs, military dogs and a lot more, too.

Gus and Laurie are two German Shepherds who spend their days together and never leave each other’s side.

These two are besties for as long as they can remember. A person found them wandering into his barn when they were just three-month-old babies. They lived there for some time, but the man decided it would be for the best if he surrender them at the Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue in Stephens City, Virginia. And that’s exactly what he did.

“They’ve only ever known each other. They were found as strays at three months old and have since lived in someone’s barn,” Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue wrote on their Facebook page. “They’re around 7 months old now and we are so hopeful that we can find someone to keep these two together. If you’re looking for a bonded pair, look no further.”

The photos of Gus and Laurie were shared online and they spread among animals lovers like a wildfire. In a mater of days, their story was shared around 16,000 times and it looked like people fell in love with their sweet personalities and their unbreakable friendship. The way they care for one another and keep each other’s back is beyond adorable. Who wouldn’t want what these two have?

The shelter says how there are numerous potential adopters who are willing to welcome Gus and Laurie in their home as a pair, as it’s practically impossible for them to be separated. Currently, however, they are being tested on how they respond when around cats and children.

“We have had an overwhelming response to this post. If you are interested in Gus and Laurie please apply at shenandoahrescue.org/adoption-process, These pups are pending cat and kid testing and have arrived to their foster in Virginia,” another Facebook post read.

“We have been getting a lot of inbox questions about this pair! Let me try to answer them here. The adoption fee is $325 each. They must be adopted together,” Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue wrote on Facebook yesterday.

“They just arrived to their foster today in northern Virginia so we don’t know much about them yet. They are not aggressive but are in need of socialization.”

It’s really amazing how Gus and Laurie became famous overnight thanks to the love and the friendship they share. The shelter posted:

“We haven’t made a “Thank you” post in a while and given tonights events of Gus and Laurie being shared by some crazy big pages, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of our followers.

You all have supported Jen and I since day 1 when we jumped in both feet first to save Frozone and now here we are, 10 months later, 350 dogs in and counting. There are dogs from WV, VA, TX, NC, GA, FL, PA, MD, EGYPT and more sitting in safe, warm, loving homes thanks to the endless shares, donations and support you provide.

As we have always said, we are in this for the dogs. Because every dog deserves a home.”
