Right before Christmas, Viktor Larkhill and his fellow animal rescuers were alerted about a case of neglect and possible abuse, but what they found was way worse than they could’ve imagined.
In a basement that resembled a dark, filthy dungeon, laid a dog who was alone, terrified, and in awful shape. He had open wounds and severe mange, which caused his skin to crust up and his hair to fall out. He was filthy, hungry, and had never seen the light of day.

They treated his mange, bandaged him up and gave him all of the medical attention that his body has so desperately needed for so long.
Six weeks later, his hair was beginning to grow back in and he was already looking like a whole new dog!

14 weeks later, he looked even better than that, but unfortunately his leg never healed and needed surgery. He had leishmaniasis, an infection with parasites spread by sandflies, which had damaged his joint.
But after surgery, he was as good as new! He recovered nicely and was finally ready for his forever home! This would be the first time that Toby was part of a real family and he would finally get the love and attention that he deserves.

Toby now has a doggy sibling and a loving dad who can’t wait to spoil him.
Looking at Toby now with his bright eyes and long soft fur, you would never know the heart-breaking misery that he had to endure for his whole life.

Thankfully, the past is far behind him and he never has to worry about living a life of darkness ever again. His new days will be filled with sunshine and love!
