Stolen Dog Scheduled To Be Euthanized Is Reunited With His Owner Just In Time

Having your dog go missing is one of the worst feelings in the world, and even worse when you know your dog had been stolen and is in the possession of a thief.

For 365 days, Barry Gearhart had to live with this horrible feeling in his stomach, knowing his beloved eight-year-old Pit Bull, Titan, was out there somewhere. Titan was stolen from the backseat of Gearhart’s truck and was nowhere to be found.

But Gearhart refused to give up and never lost hope, even though an entire year had passed. In a last-ditch effort to find Titan, he decided to post the pup’s picture on Facebook.

That’s when a shelter volunteer saw the picture and reached out to Gearhart, telling him that Titan looked a lot like a dog that they had at their shelter.

The dog at their shelter, who they referred to as “Hank,” was scheduled to be euthanized in the next two days because he was a senior dog that had been overlooked in the weeks he was there — two major factors that led staff to believe he would never get adopted.

With time running out, Gearhart rushed to the shelter to see if Hank was his beloved furbaby. As soon as he saw him, he knew that this was Titan! Their heartwarming reunion was caught on video, which you can watch below.

Titan recognized his owner right away, and their tearful reunion is sure to bring a smile to your face!

This story should be a reminder to all of how important it is to microchip your pets and keep them up to date. When pets go missing and are brought to shelters or vets, the first thing they do is scan for a microchip in the hopes of finding the owner.
