12 eye-opening photos that will make you think twice about going swimming in the ocean

Swimming can seem like a fun time, especially if you’re swimming in a natural body of water with beautiful sea life. While water is truly a wonder, some people have encountered some truly horrifying organisms that will seriously make you reconsider swimming again!

This photograph captures just how incredibly vast the ocean can be. If you’re anything like us, this is definitely scary!

It’s incredible how large sea animals can be. This whale is absolutely massive and frightening, while still being mesmerizing at the same time.

Admittedly this is just kelp, but if we saw this in real life, we would run for the hills!

We’ve never seen an octopus this big. What would you do if one got this close?

This one is too scary for words to eloquently capture! We hope to never run into anything so frightening.

  1. Just like with all the bad press pitties and rotties get, this is just fear mongering. OH NO THE OCEAN IS BIG. AND THERE ARE SHARKS AND WEIRD LOOKING ANIMSLS I DON’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT! SO SCARY! Yes, there are sharks. Most don’t care about you. OH NO A LARGE SHIRMP/OCTOPUS. Again, they don’t care about you. Unless you’re being a jerk and trying to touch/capture them.

Not to mention, not all of these are photos. The first is clearly a photoshop job (you can tell by the absurdly large, dark octopus in the lower left hand corner) and the one with the “snake.” Considering how wide the amazon is (~6.8 miles), that snake would have to be much larger than what the largest snake is capable of growing to, a mere 12 inches in DIAMETER, so about 6 inches in flat width. The snake in that photo, assuming that the river is a mere 20-30 feet wide, would still place the snake as being even larger than 6 inches wide..

And finally, what does this have to do with rottweilers?

  2. Andrew Oakeshott Reading comprehension, you don’t have it. Reread my post “Yes, there are sharks. Most don’t care about you; the ones that do think you look like dinner on that surf board of yours.”

“OH NO A LARGE SHIRMP/OCTOPUS. Again, they don’t care about you. Unless you’re being a jerk and trying to touch/capture them.”

I don’t believe there have ever been reports of octopi, large shrimp, or other non-apex predators attacking/biting/etc people who weren’t harassing them first. But if you find one, let me know.

  3. Humans need to live and let live. We all play a part in this world whether human or animal .we all give the world a balance. See the beauty not fear. Let’s look afterwardsa these wonderful animals.give them the respect each and everyone deserves. let’s learn to look after not hurt or kill.

  4. And even if it doesn’t (which they generally don’t, it’s largely a myth), sharks actually have very sensitive teeth so it’s their go-to choice for checking out new stuff. Unfortunately, “a little nibble ” could tear your arm off.
