Puppy who can’t stop wagging tail can’t believe she’s leaving shelter life behind

A puppy named Matilda never stops wagging her tail. She also gives the best kisses. And now, she can’t believe she’s finally getting out of the shelter.

Matilda is just a few months old. She was found as a stray and brought to the Douglas County Animal Shelter in Georgia. Matilda had irritated skin and worms in her belly.

But that didn’t deter Teresa Bowles-Chiofalo from Pibbles & More Animal Rescue. To her, she was “nothing short of perfect.”

Bowles-Chiofalo went to Douglas County Animal Shelter and scooped up Matilda to get her into a foster home.

Matilda couldn’t contain her excitement. The whole way to her foster, she was smiling from ear to ear and her tail did not stop wagging.

Seriously, her tail wagged the entire hour and a half car ride. Bowles-Chiofalo couldn’t help herself, she had to pull over a couple times for a snuggle session.

Matilda is now living her with foster mom, Kerrie Rich. Rich said that just after a few days, Matilda is even better than she expected – if that’s even possible.

She loves to give kisses and has the cutest bark – which she uses to get Rich’s other dogs to pay attention to her. Matilda loves to play with her toys and bounces around the house like bunny when she is excited.

As for that tail?

“She wags her tail so hard that she walks crooked,” her foster mom said.

The only time Matilda wasn’t happy was when Rich attempted to put a collar on her. She wasn’t a fan, so Matilda is collarless. Rich thinks it may be because the puppy’s skin is so irritated and raw. The foster mom will try again when her skin is feeling better.

And once her skin is feeling better, Matilda will be available for adoption!

Rich knows it will be difficult to give Matilda up, but that’s what foster life entails. It’s a necessary evil.

“Once one pup is adopted, it opens a space at my house to save another, which opens another spot at the shelter,” Rich said.

But until that day comes, Rich will enjoy every minute she has with Matilda – and that nonstop wagging tail.

Although Matilda is one happy pup, she isn’t the biggest fan of the camera. Her foster mom said that Matilda evades every attempt Rich makes to capture that perpetual tail wag.

“She’s hilarious and I wish I could video everything. But as soon as I pick up my phone, she runs right at me,” Rich said.
