Woman Finds Puppy Abandoned In Airport Bathroom, Then Reads Owner’s Note About Boyfriend’s Abuse

All pet owners know that their furry, feathery, and fluffy friends are like family members: there is little more precious in this world than them, and they would do anything to protect them.

But when one woman was caught in a difficult situation, she had to make a spur-of-the-moment decision: if she should leave her 3-month-old puppy behind, in an airport bathroom.

The woman left a heartbreaking note for anyone who would find her puppy, named Chewy. In it, she hastily explains that she did not leave him there by choice. As the victim of an abusive boyfriend, she was at the airport to escape him, but couldn’t afford to pay for her dog’s place on the plane. In this moment, she didn’t have a choice but to leave him, no matter how much it broke her heart.

In the note, she also explains that her ex-boyfriend allegedly hurt the puppy on at least one occasion. She determined that Chewy would be safer in the hands of a stranger than within his reach.

Chewy was found soon after and was taken in by a shelter before finding a new home.

Below, you can see the note for yourself, but also see that Chewy is happy with his new owners!

A 3-month-old puppy named Chewy was found abandoned in an airport bathroom.

His owner left a note about her situation, claiming that she left the poor pup there against her will. She was the victim of domestic abuse and was escaping her ex-boyfriend. But she was unable to afford the fee that would allow Chewy on the plane, and had to make a tough call. She decided that he was better off in the bathroom, where someone would easily find him, than within reach of her abusive partner.

Chewy was taken to Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue (CMDR) where he was evaluated and later put up for adoption. The adorable pup was found to be in good shape, and quickly won hearts everywhere.

It wasn’t long before people heard his story and were lining up to adopt him!

But while many were critical of Chewy’s former owner’s actions, others were supportive and understanding.

Many believe that she thought she was doing what was best for both her and her beloved pet, as she truly seems heartbroken in her note.

Many also hope that her circumstances will not keep them from being reunited one day, hopefully soon.

But for now, Chewy is living with new owners who love him dearly!

Please SHARE if you’re glad Chewy found a new home with loving owners and if you hope his first human mom is getting the help she needs!

  1. My ❤ breaks. What a sad story this poor women choice of what to do had to be hard like protecting your child against an abuser. Your are a brave person and you love your child because you did not leave it behind. You did the the right thing your baby and yourself are now safe. Stay that way.
