Cincinnati Police Sergeant James Givens was patrolling a parking lot when he heard a series of unnatural taps on his car door.
The officer was puzzled to see a goose pecking at the car and nervously begging for attention.
James assumed that she was hungry, so he passed her a piece of bagel. But the goose didn’t even look at the food and pestered the cop to help her.

James finally gave in to the goose’s distressed pleas and followed her to a grassy creek nearby.
That’s when he realized the extreme predicament of the poor goose – one of her babies was badly entangled in the piercing rope of a balloon string with no way to escape.
As the wee birdie was writhing all over in pain, James quickly gave a rescue call to SPCA Wildlife. Sadly, no expert was available at the SPCA to help with the rescue at that moment.
Left to his own devices and with no clue how to save the gosling, James made a radio call to another officer, Cecilia Charron.

In this video shared by James, we see Cecilia’s incredible skills as she single-handedly deals with the struggling gosling.
The quacking mama goose places her full trust in the woman, and anxiously watches on as Cecilia untangles the strings.
After several minutes of work, she finally frees the tiny baby and lets him run to his mama!

Both James and Cecilia have served on the force for almost 25 years, but they have never seen anything like this before.
While the mama goose’ resourcefulness and dedication to save her baby is admirable, it’s sad to think that their misery could have easily been avoided if the balloon was disposed properly.

Sadly, Dobermans are known more for their ferocity than their smarts, but these are considered among the most intelligent dogs in the world, as well as one of the most effective guard dogs around. They’re outstanding students known to be affectionate and obedient.

Don’t let the wrinkles and dopey expression fool you! Bloodhounds have the keenest of noses, and are often used for trailing (so much so that their evidence can be used in court against you!). These are loving but strong-willed dogs, and are often used on search and rescue missions.

You need a smart, determined and energetic dog to control unruly cows. And that’s just what the Australian Cattle Dog, or ACD, does. They’re intelligent enough to herd these much larger creatures, and while they need their independence and wide open spaces, they’re eager workers who know how to get the job done.
