Mortimer the Bulldog loves being around the Wellesley family’s 2 toddlers. Since the 3-year-old pooch is so gentle at all times, the family rarely monitors the time he spends near the babies.
However, they had no idea that Mortimer had developed a taste for baby pacifiers, swallowing 19 of them over the past few months.

Mom Emily Shanahan noticed that Mortimer would be nauseous before every meal. She took him to the vet’s where he was given general medicines for stomach troubles. But Mortimer’s condition worsened as he stopped eating entirely within the next few days.
Mortimer was taken in a state of emergency to Angell Animal Medical Center, a 24/7 veterinary hospital operated by the MSPCA. That’s where an X-ray revealed Mortimer’s secret-binge feast of baby pacifiers. The doctors pulled the pacifiers out one by one with a medical scope.

Mortimer is currently recovering in the comfort of his home. The doctors feel that timely medical intervention saved the pup, otherwise things could have taken a tragic turn.
They have asked pet parents to be extra-vigilant and keep potential toxic or damaging things away from their pets’ reach and to be alert to what their pets are playing with.
