Mother Elephant Leads Caretaker To Baby So She Can Sing Her A Lullaby

Sometimes we all need a break from the stresses of life in order to get a good night’s sleep. Some of us love to read a book or perhaps have a cup of warm milk before bedtime. For one elephant at the Elephant Nature Park in northern Thailand, she wants her caretaker to sing a lullaby to her and her baby before its time to sleep.

Rescued elephant, FaaMai, and her caretaker, Lek Chailert, have developed a very special bonding ritual over the years. From the time the now nine-year-old elephant was just a baby calf, Chailert would sing her lullabies to calm FaaMai’s nerves and soothe her to sleep.

When a rescued baby calf, Thong Ae, came along, adult elephant, FaaMai, wanted the little one to get the same musical treatment.

That’s right: FaaMai came to get Chailert and lead her right to the waiting baby calf.

Chailert later wrote on her Facebook page, “FaaMai wanted me to lullaby her little friend, as she is so fond when I sing a lullaby to her.”
