Owners Repeatedly Harm Dog To “Near Death” & Dump Him At Animal Shelter

Severely dehydrated, starving, and on the verge of death, Bogey’s owners surrendered him to the Lucas County Pit Crew in Toledo, Ohio. Sadly, this isn’t the first time a neglected, abused dog was brought to the shelter.

“He honestly looked like he was a dead dog already,” Jean Keating, director of the Lucas County Pit Crew shared.

The Humane Society continues their investigation while nine-month-old Bogey remains in critical condition with the Pit Crew. Bogey is holding his own but he has a long way to go. Due to his malnourished, emaciated state, he cannot stand on his own.

A dispute took place between Keating and the Humane Society over Bogey’s location.

“They called the vet hospital today and told the vet hospital, they were taking possession of the dog,” she reported. “At absolutely no time did they ever reach out or contact us in any way shape or form.”

What both groups can agree on is how animal abusers must be prosecuted. The Humane Society’s president, Stephen Heaven, shared, “In Ohio, they look at animals as property, not as living sentient beings in their own right. So, I think that it’s still looked at by a lot of people as just a property crime and that’s unfortunate.”
