Locked In A Basement For Years, All She Craved Was Human Touch & Fresh Air

From a dilapidated house in Cincinnati, Ohio, heartwrenching cries could be heard all hours of the day and night. Unsure of where the cries were coming from, two kindhearted folks did all they could to investigate. Finally, they narrowed it down to a house in disarray. It didn’t even look like anyone was living there.

They contacted the home’s owner who said they could go inside if they filled the dog’s water dish. What they saw horrified them.

On the dirty concrete floor, a young Bulldog named Gracie, sat alone. As soon as she saw them enter, she rushed over, obviously starved for human contact.

Her feet were caked in feces. She was losing her voice from barking and crying constantly. The Good Samaritans added on a Facebook post that her owner feeds her by dumping a bag of food on the floor every few days. She was once used for breeding but now was useless to the heartless man.

Queen City Bulldog Rescue (QCBR) saw the Facebook post and rushed over to the house. Since Gracie, according to her owner, could no longer get pregnant, she served no purpose to him and was willing to sell her to the rescue group for $200.

Gracie, even though she was so mistreated, showed only love to everyone she came into contact with. She kissed each and every one of her guardian angels. Thanking them for finally freeing her from that horrible place.

Once outside, in the fresh air, Gracie rolled in the grass and smiled. She likely hadn’t been outside in a very long time. Her gratitude meant so much to her rescuers.

After her night of freedom, Gracie moved in with her foster family where she is being spoiled rotten. She has minor medical issues to address but she’s doing great while enjoying LOTS of love and affection. They are so in love with her that it’s likely she found her forever family on her first try!

It’ll take a while for Gracie to get used to her new world. She runs to the basement every time she needs to use the potty but her foster family is taking it all in stride. They’re confident she’ll get the hang of housebreaking soon.

We are so grateful that Gracie’s cries were finally heard and that she is safe and loved. Please, if you no longer want a pet, do the right thing and find him or her a proper home. No animal should have to suffer.
