Forget The Doggy Paddle, This Labrador Retriever Loves To Swim The Breaststroke

When it comes to swimming, Emma the Labrador Retriever has surpassed the traditional doggy paddle. Instead, the happy dog does the breaststroke. There’s a reason for that.

Emma was born with hip dysplasia and she can’t run like normal dogs but instead bounces or hops like a bunny. The hip dysplasia also attributes to her being able to swim the breaststroke.

Swimming is excellent exercise for dogs with hip problems, and it’s clear that Emma loves to swim!

  1. Bless her. I can totally sympathise. Our cocker spaniel was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplacia at 6 mths old. He underwent surgery on both hips whereby his pelvis was cut in two places and then his hip joints were rotated. It was a very long and stressful 12 mths of recovery. He is still now having hydrotherapy but the difference now is unbelievable.Thankfully all the upset and hard work has paid off and our boy is now 2 and half and able to run and play with others dogs which is lovely to see.xx
