Starving Senior Dog With Giant Tumor Never Shown Love Wags Tail When He Hears A Kind Voice

Just a little bit of love can create a radical transformation in a person… or a dog. When people looked at senior dog Holden, they saw a dog who had all but given up on life.

That’s because he had been shown no love in his life. Holden came to the Georgia shelter starving and visibly neglected.

He would try and scarf down any bit of food he saw at the shelter, even if it was a bowl of cat food that wasn’t meant for him.

Poor Holden weighed just 25 pounds which was about 15 less than he should have weighed.

He also didn’t do so well around people. He just didn’t trust them. He would shake and seemed nervous at all times. At first, he refused

And it’s no wonder! Holden was seized by the police from a house where a drug raid had occurred. The police had brought him to the shelter but there wasn’t any room for Holden.

So, Holden was left wrapped in a blanket in the intake area.

In the meantime, the shelter’s staff put out a plea on social media to see if anyone could take Holden in. Unfortunately, things got worse for Holden before they got better. It was discovered that Holden had something inside of his body. Something that might have killed him.

The veterinarian found that Holden had a 7-pound tumor inside of his body. This made it hard for the poor pup to eat anything which is why he was so frail.

The longer Holden had been in the presence of the vet and shelter staff, he began to realize that there were people who wanted to help him.

People who wanted to show him love. This completely changed Holden’s sad and nervous demeanor. He began to enthusiastically wag his tail whenever someone would show him some love.

Those veterinarians ended up saving Holden’s life by performing surgery to remove his tumor. He was extremely grateful when he woke up from surgery.

He immediately started wagging his tail even though he was still disoriented and just starring at the back of his kennel.

When he heard some friendly voices cooing at him he was so happy. Holden’s positive attitude and gratitude for the love he was being shown caught the attention of Releash Atlanta. They were able to pick him up and get him out of the overcrowded shelter. Holden was a little hesitant when he left the people who showed him kindness.

He looked quite scared and defeated once again when Releash Atlanta volunteer Ashley picked him up.

But Ashley showered Holden with some hugs and kisses and that made him feel at ease once again.

And Holden was paired with the perfect foster mom. Melissa Lentz specializes in fostering scared dogs, so Holden fit right in with the nine little dogs in her home. It wasn’t long before Holden’s appetite and enthusiasm for life returned.

He’s going to take some time to heal up before he is put up for adoption to find a forever home.

But regardless of his age, Lentz says that “someone is going to be VERY lucky to have this dog.”

As soon as he is neutered and gets some dental work done he should be all ready to make someone very lucky in a new forever home.
