A dog’s sense of smell is seriously stronger than a human’s sense of smell. That’s right, take that humanity! Beagles, German shepherds and dachshunds are the three breeds in the canine world with the strongest sense of smell of them all! The thin layer of mucous on their noses doesn’t just help them capture smells; it also helps them regulate their body temperature.
They can only secrete sweat through their noses and also through the pads of their feet. Because of the way their noses are made, dogs are able to continuously sniff even when they are exhaling a breath.
