Pastor Darrin Crockett and his family are just one of many who were affected by the nasty tornadoes that swept through Tennessee last week.
Their Cookeville home was destroyed, but their family was safe, thanks to their beloved dog, Doc.
The Crockett family was asleep when the tornado arrived, but Doc woke up just in time to save their lives. He barked nonstop until Darrin woke up.
Initially, Darrin didn’t know why Doc was barking at him, but he then noticed the storm alert warning on his phone.
He was then able to take shelter in the downstairs laundry room with his wife and three daughters while they waited for the tornado to pass.
We heard it coming and suddenly the house began to shake,” Darrin said. “Next thing I remember is I felt grass underneath me. The tornado must have picked up the entire house dropped it in the yard with us buried underneath it.”

Thankfully, the Crockett’s survived, but their furry best friend perished in the tornado.
“He will go down as a hero,” he said. “We will celebrate him and talk about him for a long time.”
