The locals also launched a full-fledged search operation on their own as they were not sure how long the poor creature has gone without food.

Some locals claim that they saw the coyote dip her head in a stream of water, but she was only able to access a few drops.

The recent sightings show that the coyote has become very bony and weak, and this has sent the community in a state of frenzy.

As of now, PETA has also stepped in to assist the rescue team. Let’s pray the coyote is found before it’s too late!

Update: The highly experienced rescuers at “Gold Country Wildlife Rescue” have successfully managed to catch the coyote. The coyote didn’t put up a fight as she was barely alive. Her neck and ears were covered with blood which indicated that she had tried to get rid of the “treat jar” herself.

The coyote was initially in a critical condition, but she is stable now. Her feeding regime will begin slowly keeping in mind her stressed metabolism.

She will be released back into the wild when she is strong enough. If you wish to donate towards her care, you can do so on the Rescue’s Facebook post here.

Meanwhile, the authorities have requested people to dispose empty containers and other wastes responsibly as they can heavily compromise the safety of wildlife.

Let’s spread the word and raise awareness about the proper disposal of containers!
