Cop Comforts Pup Hit By Car, Drapes His Jacket Over Her While They Wait For Help

A dog got hit by a car in Chautauqua County, New York, and was in need of help.

Sgt. Chris Howlett quickly responded to the scene to tend to the poor animal. He took off his jacket and draped it over the injured dog to keep her warm while they waited for more help to arrive. He sat with the dog and comforted her to let her know that she wasn’t alone and would be okay.

Thankfully, the dog only sustained minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. She was also reunited with her owners soon after the incident.

The owners informed police that the dog’s name is Rogue, and she has since been evaluated by veterinarians. She is doing well and will hopefully be back home before Christmas.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff‘s Facebook page posted the photo of Sgt. Howlett comforting the pup, which warmed the hearts of people far and wide during this holiday season.

“During times that there seems to be negative press towards law enforcement this shows a bit of compassion on the part of law enforcement and specifically our deputie,” they wrote.
