Look What we JUST Discovered about Cocker Spaniels!

Cocker Spaniels are dogs belonging to two breeds of the spaniel dog type: the American Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel, both of which are commonly called simply Cocker Spaniel in their countries of origin.

Outgoing, Even Tempered, Merry, Joyful, Trusting, Sociable… these are some of the words to describe a typical American Cocker Spaniel's temperament. Playful, Faithful, Friendly, Quiet, Affectionate, Trainable are some of the words used to describe a typical English Cocker Spaniel.

Cocker Spaniels are merry, well-balanced pups perfect for a family. But there's also some fascinating information about their history.

  1. Not always true I knew one that at 8 months old he only trusted his foster family he hadn’t been abused or anything. I also knew someone that said theirs was a brat. So not always good for families it depends on the dog not the breed. Although there are certain breeds that I wouldn’t place in a home with kids such as Italian greyhounds.

  2. My cocker spaniel is very loving, loyal, silly, and extremely friendly, but also is spunky and stubborn. Her coat is very easy to maintain though, hardly ever getting tangled even after a day running through brush and getting wet. She loves kids more than anything and is content chasing them around and licking them to death. At night she sleeps above my head and greets me each morning with a big hug! Best dog ever!
