They Named Him ‘Cocaine’, Chained Him To Tree & Teased Him With An Empty Bowl

They gave him a pitiful name and a pitiful life. A beautiful, innocent creature whose intention is to share his unconditional love with his owner, deserves love back.

Instead, this dog was named “Cocaine” and was chained to a tree. He wasn’t fed nor sheltered. He, of course, wasn’t loved either.

His food bowl remained empty. A constant reminder that no one cared enough to fill it. To say the poor pup was emaciated is a vast understatement.

Thankfully, rescuers from Go Dogs were called in. The first thing they did, before letting Cocaine off of his chain, was to rename him, Hero. Now, that’s better!

They loaded Hero into the car and brought him to the rescue center. Hero is put on a slow-feeding program to get him to a healthy weight.

You cannot feed a dog like Hero too much or too fast. His little tummy has shrunk and he will quickly over-eat and get sick.

Hero goes to his foster home next. His foster mom understands that he will need a gentle touch and lots of patience. He’s never been around people nor inside a home. Hero loves his new foster brother!

Hero also tested positive for heartworm. They put him on immediate treatment. While he’s got a way to go, Hero is doing amazing.

He loves people and other animals. He’s also very patient with kids. Once he’s medically cleared, he’ll be available for adoption.

Stories like this one need to be shared. Some people do not understand that rescue dogs are worthy of homes too. They think they’re ‘broken’ just because they were unwanted or they suffered trauma.

That simply isn’t true and we know better! It’s our job to educate others. Please take the time to watch Hero’s rescue below and please pass along his story.

ALL animals deserve a happy life!
