Golden Retriever Loses Both His Eyes, Gets His Own “Seeing-Eye” Puppy

Charlie, an 11-year-old Golden Retriever, was a playful, happy baby to his parents, Chelsea and Adam Stipe. But, the past couple of months had been tough for old Charlie, as both his eyes had to be removed due to glaucoma.

Charlie, who always loved playing and going on walks, had a hard time shifting to his new reality. Seeing his discomfort, Chelsea and Adam brought home a new puppy, a 4-month-old Golden Retriever named Maverick, on New Year’s Day.

Charlie didn’t warm up to Maverick at first, but slowly, the pair formed the most special bond. As Maverick grew to love and care for Charlie, he realized that something was wrong with Charlie.

Eventually, Maverick understood Charlie’s disabilities, and dedicated himself to supporting the senior dog. While playing, whenever Charlie would lose a toy, Maverick would bring it back and place it in front of him.
