Motherly Cat Helps Save Day-Old Pit Bull Puppy

I love stories of homeless animals helping each other. In this story, an abandoned Pit Bull puppy named Noland was just one day old when he was rescued by the Cleveland Animal Protective League (APL). Such young puppies don’t have good odds of surviving without their mother. But the staff acted quickly and placed Noland with a cat named Lurlene who had recently given birth to a litter of kittens.

Lurlene immediately accepted Noland as a slightly larger baby than her others and let him nurse with her kittens. Thanks to Lurlene and the staff at APL, Noland made it.

Both Lurlene and Noland were eventually adopted when they were ready. Not only that, people were so taken by Lurlene and Noland’s story that the rescue went on to win $25,000 through the Petco Foundation. Their special bond certainly had lasting effects on a lot of lives, including their own.

Share this wonderful rescue story with your friends and family!
