Lost Cat Walks 12 Miles To Find His Family Then They Take Him To Be Put Down

Pets will do most anything for their owners, and all they ask in return is for their owners to provide food, shelter, and love. Sadly, for a cat named Toby, his family turned their backs on him when he needed them the most.

The SPCA of Wake County in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the animal shelter where sweet Toby ended up, but it isn’t where his sad journey began. The stray cat was originally taken in by a family who told the shelter that Toby could not get along with their other cats. They gave the feline to a person who they felt would be better suited to him.

Toby took matters into his own paws and walked a huge 12 mile-journey back to his original home. In his mind, he belonged with this family. It wasn’t meant to be.

The sweet kitty was then taken to the animal shelter since his family decided they didn’t want to keep him. He walked 12 miles for them and they just wanted him euthanized.

Thankfully, a shelter worker decided to step in. Toby has a feline disease called FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) but he is doing well with medical care. Things got better for Toby: Animal advocate, Beth Stern, wife of the famous Howard Stern, wrote about the kitty on her Instagram account.

Toby found a forever home thanks to the loving hearts of everyone involved. Three cheers and a big meow for everyone who helped Toby live happily ever after!
