K9 Gets Shot In Head During A Chase, Turns To Face His Handler And Collapses

Officer R.J. Young and Bruno the K9 from the Anaheim Police Department were on a mission to nab an absconding suspect.

Before the other officers caught up to the scene, Bruno valiantly chased down the fleeing man.

The suspect panicked and shot Bruno point blank in the face while the K9 was trying to protect the other cops.

Officer Young was horrified as he saw his loyal boy running to him and collapsing in his arms. The other officers took care of the suspect, while Officer Young rushed Bruno to the nearest veterinary ER.

It was found that the bullet had shattered the dog’s jaw and damaged his lungs before lodging itself less than an inch away from his heart.

The 7-year-old K9 was prepped for an emergency surgery where the vets pulled out the bullet. The entire team was ecstatic when Bruno miraculously survived the surgery!

Officer Young, who considers Bruno to be his own son, was especially emotional while reuniting with his heroic little fighter at the hospital!

Officer Young has offered to take over Bruno’s medical bills once he recovers completely. The dog is set to be retired from his duties once he is released from the hospital, and will be permanently adopted by Officer Young and his family.

Bruno has been an incredibly good boy and we wish him a happy life ahead!
