Australian Fires Trigger Extinctions As Animal Casualties Will Soon Touch A Billion

Ecologists are calling the Australian bushfires a major turning point for our environment, and one that paints a very bleak future for the entire planet.

They have emphasized that this is only the beginning of the impact of climate change, as forest ecosystems from around the world are shifting intrinsically.

As of now, there have been over 800 million reported wildlife deaths in Australia. Estimates say the figure will soon touch a billion as the hazardous fires remain uncontained.

Species like koalas and gliders have been completely wiped out in the affected areas due to their limited mobility. Many hoards of kangaroos have been spotted escaping the fires frantically.

Experts fear that about 200 endangered species living only in Australian “protected forests” are completely gone in the aftermath of the fires.

This is a huge setback to the wildlife distribution, while the repopulation would be another mammoth task as the habitats and food resources are also destroyed.

All of this only leads to the eventual extinction of the native wildlife.
