Man Goes To Shelter And Saves Elderly Dog. One Day On A Walk, It Stops And Stares Up At Him

Singer-songwriter Yusuf / Cat Stevens has donated his very first hit song—”I Love My Dog,” which recently marked its 50th anniversary—for PETA to use in a brand new video in celebration of National “Adopt a Shelter Pet” Day on April 30.

More than 6 million dogs and cats end up in animal shelters every year, and half of them have to be euthanized because there simply aren’t enough homes for them. PETA encourages everyone to adopt and never buy from breeders or pet stores, which contribute to the overpopulation crisis.

The dog’s owner is devastated by his loss, but he has also learned how much joy a senior dog can bring into his life. So when he gets a flyer in the mail advertising another dog adoption event, he heads right over and goes to find a new dog in need to bring home.

Grab some tissues and check out the beautiful video below!

Shelter and adopt a senior dog

Thankful acknowledgements to PETA who produced this video… thanks guys and galsI always liked Cat Stevens even after he changed his faith to Muslim and became Yusuf Islam, this song of his is so moving, I love my dogs too, and for those of you who have lost a dog…. This guy adopts a senior dog, the dog gives him love, companionship and attention, then one day on their walk the dog stops and looks up at his master… the fateful day has arrived, a heart-wrenching decision has to be made as it always will with all seniors, dogs and humans; One day you have to let go, no matter how hard it is, but at least with a dog you can adopt another senior dog and give it the same love and happiness..Go on,… go to a shelter and adopt a senior dog they need your love and will give it back a thousand fold until the day they pass on to the rainbow bridge..
