Government Wants People To Adopt Pups Who Failed K9 Training For Being Too Nice

For every batch of K9 trainees, only a few are able to fulfill the criteria to qualify as K9s. Many dogs are unable to make it due to their mild temperaments and friendly nature. Most of the K9 school rejects are essentially dogs who are “too nice”, or too scared, or completely “unmotivated” to catch the bad guys!

The TSA has reached out to the public in hopes of finding homes for their K9 and service dog “failures”. The authorities believe that these canine school dropouts will make perfect family pets. Two rescue groups – “Freedom Service Dogs of America” and “Service Dogs Inc.” will be assisting in helping the rejected dogs get adopted.

Another rescue called “Mission K9” is also requesting people to adopt the retired service dogs and K9s who have dedicated their lives to the country. In order to maintain security details, the authorities will scan the adoption applications based on home, lifestyle and family.

We couldn’t resist posting just one more picture for National Smile Day. This is Marley, and Marley has a GREAT smile. Marley is an explosives detection canine at the Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Oh, and Marley is silly. … Don’t let the “do not pet” advisory make you sad. Marley and all of the other TSA canines get plenty of love, affection, and playtime. But while they’re on the job, they need to remain focused on the task at hand, and that task is keeping our transportation systems safe. … Imagine if people kept coming up to you at your job and patting you on the head and rubbing your ears and belly… While we’re sure some of you might enjoy that, most would agree that it would be hard to focus. Same with our canines… But again, don’t be sad. They get plenty of downtime and lots of love. Happy National Smile Day! … TSA trains, and deploys both TSA-led and state and local law enforcement-led canine teams to secure our Nation's transportation systems through effective explosives detection, visible deterrence, and timely, mobile response to support rail stations, airports, passenger terminals, seaports, surface carriers, and other facilities and special events. … #NationalSmileDay #DogsOfInstagram #WorkingDogs #TSACanines #ATL
