89-Year-Old Woman Knitted 450 Coats and Blankets For Shelter Dogs

89-Year-old Maisie Green has always enjoyed knitting. Another thing she loves whole-heartedly is dogs. So she came up with a great idea to combine her love for the two and start knitting coats and blankets for pups in need.

Green donates her knitted works of art to Dogs Trust, a rehoming center in Basildon, England.

So far, she has knitted an estimated 450 coats and blankets for the dogs there!

She knits while she watches television and it helps keep her busy. A coat takes her one day to knit, while a blanket takes three days.

At the same time, she gets to help the furry residents at the rescue center, which she is “delighted” over!

A shelter can be a scary place for a pup, and oftentimes they find comfort in blankets. Green’s creations help these dogs feel right at home while they wait for a forever family to adopt them!

“Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. Through its network of 20 Rehoming Centres across the UK (and now one in Ireland) the charity cares for over 16,000 stray, unwanted and abandoned dogs each year. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy, and will never put a healthy dog to sleep,” their Facebook reads. Learn more about Dogs Trust and see the pups they have available for adoption here.
