The officers gathered together and worked through the night to rescue a total of 65 rabbits and 3 dogs from the garage of a Katy home.

The distressed animals were all sitting in cages filled with mounds of urine and feces that had seeped out to the floor. They had no access to food or water.

After a quick medical evaluation, the animals are found to be malnourished, sick and diseased. Most of them have ear mites and are suffering from varying degrees of mange, fleas-infestation, and hair-loss.

The animals are currently under the temporary custody of the Houston Humane Society on the basis of a court order. As the animals are in such bad shape, they have a long road of recovery ahead of them.

The investigation has been taken over by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. The owners will be booked with potentially heavy criminal charges, if found guilty.

If you have any information that can help this investigation, please report it to the authorities. Let’s spread the word and make sure the owners don’t get away with this inhumanity!
