12 Realities New Golden Retriever Owners Must Accept

The Golden Retriever is a well-balanced, strong, active dog with a kind expression, gentle manner, and an alert and self-confident disposition.

He is trustworthy, friendly, and reliable; excessively shy or high strung dogs are atypical of the breed and usually the result of poor breeding practices or inadequate socialization.

Joy and loyalty wrapped in sunshine is the perfect description of the Golden Retriever, a top dog for families, handicapped owners, and obedience competitors.

The Golden Retriever lives to learn, to generate smiles, to romp with the children, and to please his owners. He's a bundle of canine cheer without an unkind bone in his body.

Brains as well as beauty, along with an innate need to please his owners is the Golden trademark even above his handsome appearance.

If you are considering to own a golden retriever, or you’ve just become a new golden retriever owner, there are some realities you do need to fully accept.

  1. No he is so adamant. He was very very upset when Abbie passed away and then we got a flat coated retriever and he swore he would never get another dog as it hurt too much.

  2. We have had many different breeds of dogs but I have to say that the Golden Retriever has to be one of the sweetest and smartest ever…the only problem is all the shedding, we had hair everywhere…we would get him shaved during the summer months. He died a few years ago and it just broke my heart, we still miss him!!
