This dog breed is among the world’s oldest breeds, and has many names such as the ‘Gazelle Hound', ‘Arabian Hound' and ‘Persian Greyhound'.

It was the hunting hound of kings for thousands of years and is the Royal dog of Egypt. It was named after the Arabian city ‘Saluki' in the Middle East which no longer exists today.

They are said to be friends to men since the time of the Pharaohs and are swift and agile sprinters – perfect for hunters, but also make gentle, loyal and dignified pets.

They are deep-chested and you can tell them from their very long legs. And some think they look a greyhound. They can weigh up to 60 pounds and measure 28 inches to their shoulder.

Their coats can be all kinds of colors including white to golden, red to black, and everything else in between.

Cost of owning one of these magnificent animals will run you three thousand dollars ($3000 USD) to five thousand dollars ($5000 USD) depending on the breeder.
